One Community thru Brooklyn Neighbors is working with many partners to help meet the\u00a0basic needs of our vulnerable neighbors<\/b>\u00a0while they are\u00a0in quarantine<\/b>.\u00a0 Initially funds are being used to assure that\u00a0senior citizens,\u00a0 people with compromised health,\u00a0people who have lost their incomes<\/b>\u00a0or benefits (freelancers and undocumented people) and people who are\u00a0Covid-19 positive\u00a0<\/b>are\u00a0safe and have food. Our small fund goes a very long way\u00a0<\/b>— we buy tables, handcarts, bags, tape, paper, toner, masks and gloves so that\u00a0dozens of volunteers<\/b>\u00a0can deliver groceries to hundreds of our vulnerable neighbors every week.
\n<\/b>We are working with The Campaign against Hunger, ReThink, Teen Challenge,\u00a0 Recovery House of Worship, the Sylvia Rivera Pantry and other\u00a0food donors,\u00a0<\/b>tenant association officers and other\u00a0tenant leaders in public housing<\/b>, volunteers from\u00a0Clinton Hill\/Fort Greene Mutual Aid<\/b>, Council Majority Leader\u00a0Laurie Cumbo<\/b>\u00a0and her staff and the\u00a0Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership<\/b>\u00a0to obtain and help deliver what is needed.\u00a0 The\u00a0Brooklyn Navy Yard provided our central distribution hub<\/b>. \u00a0 We have been\u00a0invited to attend the mayor’s working group on food security<\/b>\u00a0during the coronavirus crisis and are seen as a\u00a0unique example of community-based food distribution.<\/b><\/div>\n
