MYRTLE AVE GUIDE: COVID-19
Who’s open, current offers, adjusted services and innovative ways for you to continue to support Myrtle Avenue’s businesses.
As the country faces the uncertainty created by COVID-19 pandemic, the Myrtle Avenue Partnership has created a list of resources available for the Fort Greene and Clinton Hill community.

We will be updating the list of resources regularly so check back often.
How to Support Businesses & Local Workers

Here are a few ways you can help:

  • Shop online. Many Myrtle Avenue retailers have online shops open. While some shops may not have an online store, they are available to help you get what you need via phone call, Instagram DMs, or other methods if necessary.
  • Purchase gift cards. Some local businesses are closed now but they will be open again, so purchase a gift card now to help the business get cash and save the card for later… or send it to a quarantined loved one to show them that you are thinking of them!
  • Order carry-out or delivery. Even though all dining-in in NYC is off, for now, many restaurants are taking carry-out orders or delivering. Try calling your delivery order in to help the restaurant avoid high fees from online ordering/delivery companies. Tipping the same amount you would dining in is also a great support to service workers.
  • Supporting Workers. For those businesses who have had to close entirely, and let their staff go for the moment, you can consider donating to a business’ employee fund. We have a list of available donation campaigns, both locally and nationally, at myrtleavenue.org/covid19.
  • Resources to Help Employees

If you are a worker who has experienced a lay-off or reduction in ours, please review these resources. If you are a business owner, please share these with your staff.
    • Mental Health Services for Service Workers
    • This easy questionnaire from the City will help you identify benefits like food and rent assistance that you are eligible for
    • For kitchen staff, apply for a food prep position at Rethink Food in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. They are currently hiring more staff to help them meet the rising demand for emergency response food service.
